MegaCD Switchless MultiBIOS

After about a year, I got around to writing up my combined Switchless Megadrive - MegaCD mod, both the Megadrive and MegaCD region/video modes are controlled via the Megadrive reset button. It's not easy, but if you've got the required equipment, it's an interesting mod to perform.

Excuse-me sir, but I'm trying to do the Sega Mega-CD I Multi-BIOS with switches.

I have burnt the files from de .bin file of your switchless mod thread. If I'm not wrong, I have to "simulate" the switchless mod with switches (that's what I want to do).

I want to know if I have to incomunicate the leg 20 of the original BIOS and solder the little wire that comes from original leg 20 to soldered leg 1. I have tried it with the instructions of the Multi-BIOS switched, but the console doesn't power on. You said that with the switchless mod, you have to attach the socket like the other modification, but you don't say if it's neccesary to incomunicate the leg 20 and if it's neccesary to solder the original leg 20 to leg 1.

Could you help me, please?

Hi

If you are soldering the socket over the top of the old BIOS chip, then you have to do the link wires for leg 20 on both the original BIOS and the socket as per the MultiBIOS guide - http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/sega/megacd.htm

Good luck!

Alright, I did all the steps like the manual, and the console stills not power on.

I only recorded the file switchless.bin in the EPROM, and I think that the chip is the cause of all...Probably, I would have recorded the other multi-BIOS file: http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/downloads/std%20bios%20multibios.zip. I'll try to undo all to see if the console stills powering on with his basic BIOS.

Can it be possible?

I have to ask you something. I supose that I have broken my original BIOS chip. Can I quit the original BIOS and put the switchless chip, working like an original BIOS EPROM?

I think that is the only way to fix the problem, but I don't know how to do it.

I'll do it if you tell me that it is another solution. Thanks a lot

I have found a broken unit, but it is NTSC-U. Would pieces work with my Sega Mega-CD I PAL?

I supose that the manual of Multi-BIOS will work anyway, right? Sorry for the messages...xD
